Remodeling Your Home – Making a Big Impact with a Small Amount of Money

Increasing the beauty of your home does not require major expensive renovations.  There are a number of small, inexpensive ways that you can make big changes to your home without breaking your budget.

One of the cheapest ways to improve the look of your home is to clean and declutter.  It’s surprising how much better your home can look after simply getting rid of all of the excess things that have been gathering around your home.  Most people don’t regularly use about 90% of the things they own, and over time these possessions will really start to take over a home. Taking the time to thoroughly clean your home inside and out will also help make your home look much better.  Something as simple as steam cleaning your carpets can make a dingy carpet look practically new.

Cleaning and decluttering are so absolutely essential to keeping a lovely home.  They should be the first things on your mind when you are looking to spruce up your home.  After everything is cleaned up and decluttered, you can start some small projects that will make your home look its best.

One major way to make an impact in a room is by giving the walls a fresh coat of paint.  Changing up the color of your walls can be a refreshing change to the boring wall colors that you have lived with for years.  The cost of a few cans of paint is relatively small compared to the changes that it will make to your space.

Another way to change the look of your home is to update some of the smaller details that make your home look dated.  This can be as simple as switching out the hardware on your kitchen cabinets, or a light fixture in your dining room or bathroom.  You do not have to renovate everything completely in order to start seeing a difference in your home.  Even if you cannot afford to replace your kitchen cabinets or countertops, some paint and some new hardware will give the space a new look.

Lastly, consider changing up the accessories.  If you can’t afford to replace your living room furniture, you could consider changing up the color scheme using slipcovers or by changing the accent colors in the room.  Changing up the pillows, rugs, and window treatments of your living room is enough to make a difference in the look of your room.

Redecorating your home does not have to be overly expensive.  It is very easy to make some small changes to what you already have without killing your budget.
